Void of Course present an uncompromising and focused fourth collection for Autumn/Winter 2012 in “Sharp Edges”, inspired by ideas of privacy in public and returning exposed to the essence of the brand. A softer, contemplative approach to their signature aesthetic challenges what has been seen in previous seasons, without losing the essence of this cult designer brand.

“Sharp Edges” looks to the pre-mid century work of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s iconic costumier Gilbert Adrian, inspiriting the elegance and simple-opulence of his signature with the urban and street influences that form the foundation of the Void of Course aesthetic. At once exposing and concealing the wearer, nude panels sit amidst blacks and greys, containing the body within cage-like silhouettes and eluding to flesh, directing attention away from the garment and instead onto pause and space upon the body. Latex, neoprene, satins and reverse-appliqué herald a contemporary twist on retrospective silhouettes tempering a light-hearted and unexpected glamour for the current day. Statement leather accessories for which Void of Course have come to be known remain at the heart of this season’s offering, returning stripped back and organic in shape, reflecting the defiant unfussed simplicity seen throughout the collection.
